Day three of my European Championship journey and I was back to watching live football as we headed to PSG’s Parc des Princes for the Group A game between Switzerland and Romania, before spending the evening soaking up the incredible atmosphere of a French game in the Eiffel Tower fanzone.
The second day of my Euro 2016 adventure was the only one without a game to attend. Instead, some sightseeing across the beautiful city of Paris was followed by an afternoon in the fanzone located directly underneath the Eiffel Tower!
On the first day of my visit to Euro 2016 I attended my first ever live match at a major international tournament – heading to the Stade de France to watch Republic of Ireland face Sweden in their Group E opener.
Jon McClure and Ed Cosens of Reverend & The Makers performed an acoustic set to a large crowd in the city’s Winter Gardens as part of the celebrations for BBC Music Day. Having performed at the Frog & Parrot pub earlier in the day, the duo headed to the gardens to ‘busk’ an hour long set that included covers and original tracks ‘Black Widow’ and ‘Open Your Window’ – twenty-four hours before the group headline Sheffield’s Mosborough Music Festival.

Mark Selby completed a famous ‘Leicester double’ by defeating Ding Junhui 18-14 in the final of the World Snooker Championship on the same night that his hometown football club completed their own fairytale won the Premier League title.
‘The Jester From Leicester’ made a blistering start to the final, leading 6-0, but the man from China rallied to within one frame on two separate occasions at 8-7 and 11-10. However, Ding, playing in his first final, could never quite catch the world number one and it was Selby who took the last two frames of the evening session to win 18-14 and join an elite club of multiple champions at the Crucible Theatre – which will now host the World Championship until at least 2027.
Before the final session of the final, we headed to the Crucible one final time to say goodbye for another year to a few friends, pick up our tickets for next year and see some of the ‘faces’ arriving for the pinnacle of the snooker calendar. See the photos below:
