Y Not Festival returned for its eleventh year with a bigger and better line-up than ever before with the likes of Noel Gallagher, Madness, Catfish and the Bottlemen and hundreds more heading to Derbyshire for the three-day event between 29th and 31st July.

Tramlines Festival returned to Sheffield for an eighth year with it’s biggest line-up ever, featuring the likes of Catfish and The Bottlemen, Dizzee Rascal, The Dandy Warhols, Public Service Broadcasting and DJ Steve Davis among the hundreds of artists performing over the three-day event between 22nd and 24th July.
Attending for a third year, and for the first time ever with a press entry, I watched a total of 17 acts perform during the event across multiple locations – from the Ponderosa’s main stage to O2 Academy, and even the much smaller fringe venues that make the occasion so unique.

A young Sheffield Wednesday side outclassed Hallam with a dominant 6-0 victory at Sandygate on Monday evening.

Chesterfield got their pre-season campaign underway with a defeat as first half goals from Kieran Lee and Fernando Forestieri earned Sheffield Wednesday a comfortable 2-0 victory.
The Owls started the contest strongly and Lee converted Jack Hunt’s cross from close range to open the scoring in the ninth minute.
Nineteen minutes later, Forestieri finished off a good move from the visitors with a low strike past goalkeeper Ryan Fulton to double the advantage.
From then on the outcome never really looked in doubt, despite a few decent opportunities for the Spireites, and Wednesday saw out victory in a second half that lacked any real flow or urgency.

Goals from Jake Wetherall and Morgan Penfold earned Lincoln City a comfortable victory over Worksop Town on my first ever visit to Sandy Lane and first game of the 2016/17 season.
