Teversal 0-2 Hallam – NCEL Division 1

Tom Roebuck’s brace gave Hallam a 2-0 victory at Teversal as the world’s second oldest football club made it four straight victories to continue their promotion push in the Northern Counties East League Division 1.

Hallam 0-6 Sheffield Wednesday – Pre-Season Friendly

A young Sheffield Wednesday side outclassed Hallam with a dominant 6-0 victory at Sandygate on Monday evening.

Three goals in six first half minutes gave the Owls a 3-0 advantage at the break. Three more came in the second period – including a Devante Rodney spot kick and a Simon Mirfin own goal, to complete a comfortable outing for the youngsters.

Hallam 5-1 Rossington Main – NCEL Division 1

Michael Blythen’s hat-trick helped Hallam to a 5-1 victory over Rossington Main on Wednesday night as manager Ryan Hindley celebrated one year at the helm in style.

The visitors, who were reduced to ten men in the second half, had started stronglyand took an early lead when Ben Hunter converted from the spot after being tripped in the area.

However, Josh Statham restored parity before the break and a Hallam victory rarely looked in doubt as Blythen scored three times in 21 minutes before Brodie Cooper completed the rout late on.

The result was a fitting way to celebrate a year under the management of Hindley, who has transformed the club’s fortunes, and sets up an exciting game between second-placed Hallam and 3rd-placed Hemsworth Miners Welfare on Non-League Day at the weekend.

Hallam 2-2 AFC Emley – North Counties East League Division 1

Michael Blythen’s double earned Hallam a draw in an action-packed and entertaining game with AFC Emley at Sandygate.

In-form Emley, who put ten goals past Winterton Rangers at the weekend, led twice through Sam Jerome and Alex Slack goals either side of half time.

But Blythen was the hero for the hosts and capitalised on a terrible defensive mix-up to salvage an important point late in the day.

Hallam 1-1 Shirebrook Town – North Counties East League Division 1

Hallam moved to second in the NCEL first division table after a hard fought 1-1 draw with Shirebrook Town at the world’s oldest football ground.

The home side were looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season last Tuesday and looked well on their way to doing so when Shirebrook defender Ryan Lawty directed Scott Preece’s cross into his own net in the 18th minute.

But resilient and hard-working visitors fought back to earn themselves an important away point, courtesy of Ash Rawson’s goal shortly after the hour.

Hallam 4-1 Chesterfield – Pre-Season Friendly

It was a case of ‘men against boys’ at Sandygate on Monday 20th July 2015 as Hallam comfortably defeated a young Chesterfield side 4-1.

Two goals in either half gave the dominant North Counties East League club a deserved victory, an own goal from defender Josh Statham providing their only blemish on the score sheet for the hosts on a chilly summer’s evening at the world’s oldest football ground.
