Don Broco thrilled a sellout crowd in Leeds as they performed their debut album ‘Priorities’ in full on a very sweaty, yet hugely enjoyable evening at The Key Club!
Don Broco’s Priorities/Automatic tour arrived in Leeds for the first of two nights at the incredibly intimate Key Club venue, ready to perform their first album in full for the fifth time – having already stopped off in Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle and Birmingham on the way.
The venue, which the band were playing for the first ever time, was quickly filled and an hour after the doors opened, the first act hit the stage.
It was South London group ‘Massmatiks’ who provided the support, as they have done for the entirety of this sellout tour, and appeared to go down well with the Yorkshire crowd with a sound they describe as “in your face indie”.
Allowing to excitement to build to a peak, the quartet of Rob Damiani, Simon Delaney, Tom Doyle and Matt Donnelly hit the stage fashionably late.
What ensued was an hour and a quarter of sweaty delight, as the band performed their 2012 debut album ‘Priorities’ in full, to perfection, from the title track through to ‘Actors’, via classics such as ‘Whole Truth’, ‘Hold On’ and ‘Yeah Man’ with the adoring crowd singing along to every word.
It wasn’t over just yet, however, and after leaving the stage temporarily the band were quickly urged back for more by the chanting crowd.
New track ‘Everybody’, released only a few weeks ago, kicked off the encore and went down a hit with the crowd before ‘You Wanna Know’ and ‘Automatic’ track ‘Money Power Fame’ followed.
Finally, the tongue-in-cheek fan-favourite ‘Thug Workout’ brought a crazy evening to a conclusion in the perfect manner with crowd-surfing and even a Broco-specialty “push-up pit”!
Don Broco will return to the same venue tomorrow evening (Thursday) to perform their second album, ‘Automatic’, in full before heading to their hometown of Bedford for the first of a duo of performances on Friday.
Luckily Yorkshire’s Broco fans won’t have too long to wait until the quartet are back in the county, as the band have recently been announced as the main support for Bring Me The Horizon’s UK arena tour – which hits Sheffield on 6th November.
