Sheffield’s Inherit the Stars just get better and better! The alternative band made their debut on the Main Stage at Corporation on Saturday 27th September and they did not disappoint with a dynamic performance that showcased both old songs and some of the new material from forthcoming EP ‘Beyond The Beacons’.
It has been over a year since ‘ITS’ officially released some new material with the single ‘Ground Zero’, but fans of one of Sheffield’s hottest young prospects were finally treated to some new stuff tonight as the band performed tracks from the EP that is due to be released on December 8th.
Inherit the Stars are made up of Daniel Jeffery (vocals), Chris Brayshaw (guitar), Lewis Wild (bass) and Theo Egginton (drums) and the four-piece have spent the past few months working hard on completing their brand new EP. Now in the final stages of production, the band felt that tonight’s gig was the perfect opportunity to show the fans what to expect from this upcoming release.
Performing live for the first time since Tramlines Festival back in July, the group lifted the roof off of Corporation as part of a five-band bill that also included ‘Soul Fire Saints’ and ‘Crooks’.
They burst on to the stage at just after 9pm and opened with the new track ‘Still Alive’. This was followed by another song off the new EP, ‘Flaws’, which local fans may have recognised as it was first performed back in January during the bands headline slot at The Leadmill.
The lively, flat-cap adorning vocalist Daniel Jeffery encouraged the crowd to “lose their sh*t” to the next song ‘Caught In The Crossfire’, possibly the best track from their debut album ‘We Were Made To Walk The Skies’ which was released last year.
More new songs followed, with ‘Better Than This’ offering an interesting crossover of post-hardcore and electronic sound before the penultimate track ‘Exit Plan’, for which the band announced they were filming a music video the following day, was jokingly described as a “ballad” by the frontman.
Finally, the half-hour set was brought to a conclusion with a classic – “If We Fall, We’ll Fall Together”. The song is always a certainty to get the crowd singing along with it’s memorable chorus and this time was no different as the performance ended on a high.
Inherit the Stars continue to go from strength to strength and tonight’s performance confirmed that their EP ‘Beyond the Beacons’ is something that everyone should be excited to get their hands on come 8th December! For fans that cannot wait to hear the new material, you can listen to one of the new tracks ‘On Our Own’ right now!
