Chesterfield 2-3 Coventry City – League 1

Chesterfield took a major blow to their play off dreams with a 3-2 defeat to strugglers Coventry City on Saturday 14th March 2015.

Despite finding the net in either half courtesy of Jay O’Shea and late substitute Gboly Ariyibi, the Spireites fell to a third home defeat out of four as Marcus Tudgay, Sanmi Odelusi and Frank Nouble all scored for the Sky Blues in an entertaining encounter.

It was a day of firsts for Coventry, who picked up their first victory under experienced new manager Tony Mowbray on their first ever visit to the Proact Stadium.

Chesterfield 2-2 Doncaster Rovers – League 1

There was late drama at the Proact Stadium as Chesterfield fought back from 2-0 down to salvage a point against Doncaster Rovers on 31st January 2015.

The visitors got off to the perfect start as they raced into a 2-0 lead after just nine minutes courtesy of strikes from James Coppinger and Andy Butler.

But a spirited Spireites fightback saw Eoin Doyle pull one back on the stroke of half time. Jimmy Ryan’s 87th equaliser then earned Chesterfield a good point and ensured they remained in fifth place at the end of January.

Chesterfield 0-1 Bradford City – League 1

Chesterfield fell to their first defeat in seven games as Bradford City ran out 1-0 winners at the Proact Stadium on Saturday 13th December 2014.

Billy Clarke’s superb second half strike proved to be the difference between the two sides as the Bantams moved to within a point of the play off spots.

The Spireites had earlier been reduced to ten men after Sam Morsy received a straight red card after an incident that saw his arm raised towards Bradford’s Andy Halliday.

The defeat ends a dreadful week for Chesterfield, who were charged on Monday for fielding an ineligible player in their second round victory over MK Dons and face being kicked out of the FA Cup.

Chesterfield 0-3 Swindon Town – League 1

Chesterfield were comfortably beaten by Swindon Town at the Proact Stadium on Tuesday 28th October 2014.

The Robins provided one of the best attacking performances in recent memory as they ran out 3-0 winners on a rainy Tuesday night in North Derbyshire. Two goals in four first half minutes from Yaser Kasim and Nathan Byrne put Swindon well on their way to victory. And a third from Andy Williams in the 70th minute guaranteed that they travelled back down South with all three points.

Chesterfield 1-1 Oldham Athletic – League 1

Chesterfield and Oldham Athletic played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Proact Stadium on 18th October 2014 as both teams continued their good starts to the campaign.

The visitors led early in the second period courtesy of Jonathan Forte’s eighth goal of the season. But Sam Clucas’ close-range volley just shy of the hour made sure that the two sides deservedly shared the spoils.
