Chesterfield moved to within touching distance securing a play-off spot despite a drab goalless draw against Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park on Saturday 18th April 2015.

Chesterfield 6-0 Colchester United – League 1

League 1 strugglers Colchester United were hit for six on Tuesday 14th April 2015 as Chesterfield ran riot at the Proact Stadium.
The Spireites raced into a 3-0 lead after less than 20 minutes courtesy of goal from Gary Roberts and a Sam Clucas brace.
Dan Gardner and Jimmy Ryan made it five in the second half. Roberts then fired home from the penalty spot to round off a record-breaking victory at the new ground.
Derren Brown ‘Miracle’ at Sheffield City Hall

Derren Brown headed to Sheffield on Monday 13th April 2015 for the first of a three-night run at the City Hall performing his latest live show ‘Miracle’.
I’m not going to write a proper review as I don’t want to spoil what happens for those attending in the future. But simply to say that it is an incredible, inspirational and truly amazing show.
Derren’s baffling skill, charisma and all-around greatness as a performer is something that everybody should witness for themselves at least once. It is without a doubt one of the best live shows of any sort that I have attended!
I was also lucky enough to briefly meet Derren, a genuinly nice guy, after the performance as he signed autographs for the waiting crowds.
Check out a few photos below! (No spoilers!)
The Wombats – Live at Leadmill, Sheffield

The Wombats headlined Sheffield’s Leadmill on Saturday 11th April 2015, just two days before the release of their third album ‘Glitterbug’.
Barnsley 1-1 Chesterfield – League 1

Chesterfield moved another step closer to a top six finish with an important draw away to play off rivals Barnsley on 11th April 2015.
Jay O’Shea gave the Spireites a first half lead but the Reds fought back and equalised through Sam Winnall just after the hour, ensuring my second match at Oakwell would end level.
Chesterfield 1-0 Crewe Alexandra – League 1

Tendayi Darikwa’s first goal of the season was enough for play off challengers Chesterfield to defeat Crewe Alexandra at the Proact Stadium on Monday 6th April 2015.
It was a fourth consecutive victory for the Spireites, who opened up a four-point gap on 7th place with victory on the Easter Bank Holiday.
Coronation Street Tour

On Thursday 2nd April 2015, I went to Manchester for a tour of the old Coronation Street set.
Opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1982, this set is the show’s longest-lasting with filming there only coming to an end on 20th December 2013, after 31 years.
Less than five months later it was re-opened as a tourist attraction, allowing fans of the show to walk in the footsteps of the endless number of famous characters that have graced the street over the years.
Sheffied Steelers 3-3 Fife Flyers (6-5 on agg) – Elite League Play-Off Quarter Final 2nd Leg

Sheffield Steelers managed to fend off a dramatic late comeback from Scottish opponents Fife Flyers to book their place in the Play-Off finals weekend in Nottingham with a 6-5 aggregate victory on Sunday 29th March 2015.
Drop Dead Secret Party at Bungalows and Bears, Sheffield

Drop Dead hosted a very special ‘secret party’ at Bungalows and Bears in Sheffield on Saturday 28th March 2015.
A heavyweight line-up of acts was headlined by local DJ ‘Toddla T’, whilst the likes of ‘Squarehead’, ‘Clubs & Spades’ and ‘Rev Austin’ were among the other performers.
A number of other big-names were also in attendance for the event on Sheffield’s Division Street. Three members of the band ‘Bring Me The Horizon’, who performed a sold-out show at Wembley Arena in December, were there including Oli Sykes, the frontman of the band and owner of the Drop Dead company.

Chesterfield 1-0 Walsall – League 1

Sam Hird’s late header gave Chesterfield an important victory over Walsall on Saturday 28th March 2015.
It was, in truth, a poor quality contest at the Proact Stadium, but Hird’s 86th minute winner was all that mattered for the Spireites as they moved to within two points of the play offs.
