Kasabian performed their final show of 2014 at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena on Saturday 13th December to bring to an end an incredible year for the band.
The performance in the steel city saw the indie rockers’ tour reach its conclusion, having played shows at arenas all over the UK during the past couple of months – including a five-night stint at London’s Brixton Academy.
All this capped off an amazing year for Kasabian. June saw the release of their fifth studio album, ’48:13′, which quickly became their fourth consecutive number one. But perhaps most impressively, the summer also saw the four-piece headline Glastonbury Festival, one of the most prestigious achievements for any band.

The penultimate night of the UK Foo Fighters‘ ‘Sonic Motorways’ tour took place at Sheffield’s O2 Academy on Friday 12th December 2014. The number one tribute band to Dave Grohl and co. thrilled crowds with tracks from their whole discography, including the newest release ‘Sonic Highways’, from which the tour’s name is cleverly derived.

The Xcerts made their second visit to Sheffield in under two months on 4th December 2014, performing live at Corporation on the fifth night of their headline UK tour.

Catfish and the Bottlemen rocked Sheffield’s Plug on Tuesday 2nd December 2014 as part of their sold out UK tour promoting their debut album ‘The Balcony’.
“This is a song by a band called The Vaselines. They’re from Edinburgh, Scotland. And they’re very punk rock.”
Those were the first words uttered by Kurt Cobain to a packed-out crowd at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on 31st October, 1991. The quiet, long-haired genius then preceded to kick off Nirvana’s Halloween show with a powerful rendition of ‘Jesus Doesn’t Want Me For A Sunbeam’.
23 years on and this small band from the Scottish capital, admired so greatly by one of the icon’s of music history, embarked on Sheffield’s Plug venue on 27th November 2014 for their penultimate show of the year. (more…)

The High Hazels sold out The Leadmill in their hometown on Thursday 20th November 2014. I interviewed frontman James Leesley ahead of the gig to find out about the tour, the debut album and to learn more about this up and coming Sheffield band.

Describing themselves as “The Official Tribute Band to the Arctic Monkeys”, the ‘Antarctic Monkeys’ rocked the O2 Academy in Sheffield on Saturday 15th November in front of a passionate crowd.
