After 10 years for me, 33 years for my Dad and 139 years in total, the final countdown on Chesterfield’s home of Saltergate finally reached zero. Chesterfield’s game against Bournemouth was the last game ever to be played at Saltergate, before the side move to the B2net stadium next season.We took plenty of photos on this brilliant, yet sad day.
On Saturday 24th April 2010 I took a break from the snooker to go to Saltergate for the penultimate game ever at the ground.
On Saturday 10th April I went to watch Chesterfield face Dagenham and Redbridge at Saltergate.
On 13th March 2010, before going to watch Chesterfield play Port Vale at Saltergate, we visited Chesterfield’s new ground, the B2Net Stadium. The ground is coming along well now and it is due to be finished for the start of the 2010/11 season. Being with my Dad’s friend Andy meant we could get a little closer.
On Wednesday December 2nd 2009 I visited Chesterfield to watch them play Crewe Alexandra in the final ever scheduled evening game at the Saltergate.
On Wednesday 19th August I went to watch Chesterfield play Sven Goran Eriksson’s Notts County at Saltergate.
Today I went to Saltergate, the home of Chesterfield FC, for its final ever open day before they move to their new ground Whittington Moor next season. Click below to see lots of pictures from the day.
