On Tuesday 3rd August I made my yearly visit to the world’s oldest football club for the pre season friendly with Chesterfield.

On Sunday 6th June I went to Saltergate for probably the final time for the last open day at the ground.
A marquee was erected on the Saltergate pitch for a 3 day celebration. It started on the friday night (4th June) with the farewell banquet where many ex Chesterfield legends were present including Gordon Banks.
The Saturday night was the player of the year event, where Tommy Lee won the award and it all ended on the Sunday with an open day which featured a farewell look at Saltergate.
Below you can see some photos from the day.

After 10 years for me, 33 years for my Dad and 139 years in total, the final countdown on Chesterfield’s home of Saltergate finally reached zero. Chesterfield’s game against Bournemouth was the last game ever to be played at Saltergate, before the side move to the B2net stadium next season. We took plenty of photos on this brilliant, yet sad day.

On Saturday 1st May I made my first ever visit to Accrington Stanley’s Crown Ground to see Chesterfield’s final away game of the season.

On Saturday 10th April I went to watch Chesterfield face Dagenham and Redbridge at Saltergate.

On Saturday 3rd April I went to Saltergate to watch Chesterfield play league leaders Rochdale.

On 13th March 2010, before going to watch Chesterfield play Port Vale at Saltergate, we visited Chesterfield’s new ground, the B2Net Stadium. The ground is coming along well now and it is due to be finished for the start of the 2010/11 season. Being with my Dad’s friend Andy meant we could get a little closer.

On Saturday 27th February 2010 I went to Saltergate to watch Chesterfield play Aldershot Town in League 2.

On Wednesday December 2nd 2009 I visited Chesterfield to watch them play Crewe Alexandra in the final ever scheduled evening game at the Saltergate.
